May 10 Weather

This morning when I got to my car around 6:45, there was dew on all the windows. This means that it was a cooler night and warmed up early in the morning causing the condensation of the water vapor in the air. It was a beautiful sunny day and hazy in the afternoon. Currently, it is 60 F with winds at 4 mph from the ESE. There is a low pressure system in Nebraska which means the cold front will be headed toward Eau Claire cooling temperatures down later in the week and into the weekend.

May 9th Weather

Today was sunny and really warm.  It was a pleasant spring day. Some cumulous nimbus clouds were passing through the area all day and sometimes blocking the sun, but the wind would blow them through before they could let the rain fall from them.  By the evening hours there were barley any clouds in the sky. Currently it is 55 F and the barometric pressure is rising rapidly. This means tomorrow will be sunny with barley any clouds and higher temperatures most likely in the 70's.

There are parallel cold fronts along the east coast still with a large storm wall as well.

May 8th Weather

Today was cloudy in the morning and sunny in the afternoon.  It was a brisk temperature but not chilly.  By about 7:45 it started raining and only lasted for about a half hour.  Currently it is 54 F with 3 mph winds from the west.  The humidity is 66% and a dew point of 43.

There is a stationary front above Lake Michigan and a dry line with a low pressure system right around Eau Claire. The east part of the country has a cold from that starts in Texas to New York.  Storms are following the front again.

May 7th Weather

Today was beautiful.  The sun was shining all day and the temperatures were in the high 60's.  Now it is hazy out.  The stars are visible but covered by haze.  It is calm and not very windy.  There is a cold front passing through the south with a line of thunderstorms.  Currently it is 58 F, temperatures have dropped 10 degrees. Tomorrow will be  a little cooler and rain in the afternoon

May 6th Weather

Yesterday like Saturday was cloudy.  The temperature decreased a little bit and it was a little breezy.  The cloud coverage was stratus all day but it never rained.

May 5th Weather

Cinco Day Mayo was a day of thunderstorms.  It didn't hit Eau Claire until 4:00 pm and down poured for about an hour.  It was warm and cloudy all day though.  The night stopped the storms but it remained cloudy.

May 4th Weather

Today is very sunny and warm.  It was predicted to thunderstorm all day today but so far there have been no storms.  The early morning hours had clear skies.  Currently it is becoming cloudier with some stratus clouds in the distance.  I anticipate it will rain soon. It is 73 F but feels like 69 F. There is an occluded front just below Wisconsin meaning it is stationary and this weather we have been experiencing all week will likely continue into the weekend.

May 3rd Weather

The weather on May 3rd was all over the place.  One minute it would be raining and the next it was sunny.  The wind direction was from the east and pretty gusty with wind speeds of 12 mph. It was very warm out though with high of 72 F.

Thursday, April 26, 2012

April 26 Weather

Today started off with a fractered cloudy sky with cumulous stratus clouds.  It looked like rain for a good part of the early morning.  Skies cleared and it was sunny for all the rest of the day.  A cold front from the continental polar air mass pushed through cooling the evening right up.  Now that air mass sits towards the bottom of the country. The current temperature is 40.5 F with zero winds and a low barometric pressure that is slowly rising. Currently we are in a freeze warning. Tomorrow will be cloudy with a chance of showers in the evening.

Friday, April 20, 2012

April 20 Weather

Today was sunny and warm. There is a cold front that is sweeping across the country. Behind this front, there is a line of storms. We should expect the current weather to continue with a chance of rain tomorrow.

Thursday, April 19, 2012

April 19th Weather

Today temperatures are cool and rain is anticipated. There is a cold front passing through most of the country with a low pressure system right above Texas. This will produce some very servere storms for Tornado Alley.  We will experience some of these storms too but not as servere. Eau Claire has a high barametric pressure but it is not changing so our weather will be like this for the next couple days.  The jetstreams have no ridges or troughs but by the end of the day  we should see the omega jet streams. The temperature is currently 40 F with little wind.

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

April 18th Weather

The morning started out with rain showers and gusty winds.  By early afternoon there was mostly cloudy skies.  The wind would blow the clouds quickly across the sky.  The sun would be out for a couple mins at a time and then hidden again by all the clouds.  By mid afternoon the skies cleared but where still partly cloudy. The clouds were cumulous nimbus. The storms that passed through Eau Claire is now an occluded front in norhern Michigan which means it is dying out. Right now there is clear skies with temperatures of 53 F.  Tomorrow we can expect more rain showers and the temperature to reach 47 F.

April 16th Weather

Today's weather was a shock.  There were snow showers in the morning lasting throughout the afternoon.  Yesterday there were tornado watches all day because the weather was right for conditions. There was a cold front that passed through the middle of the US. On the east side of the front temperatures were warm.  Pennsylvania was experiencing temperatures in the high 80's. Clouds were low and nimbus stratus.

April 13 Weather

Today, the weather was wet and cold. Temperatures were cold, just about 50 for most of the day. As predicted, there was early storms and high winds from the south for most of the day. Rain will remain sporadic for most of the overnight and continue through tomorrow. Temperatures will begin to rise as clouds dissipate into the evening.

Thursday, April 12, 2012

April 12 Weather

Today, the weather was nice, with temperatures averaging out above 60 for most of the day. It was breezy at times, with winds coming out of the south and east at about 10 mph. Clouds began to roll in late, which could lead to some rain and storms tomorrow. It looks like we could expect off and on rain for some of the day along with high winds.

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

April 11th Weather

The last couple of days have been a little cooler then we have recently been experiencing. Temperatures are expected to drop to 29 F so we are currently in a Freeze Warning until 9am tomorrow. There were cumulous clouds covering half the sky today with mostly sun peeking through.  The wind is 6 mph from the SE.  The strong winds is what has been preventing frost in our area lately.  The occluded front in the west have of the country indicated that the front is dying out.

Thursday, April 5, 2012

April 5th Weather

Today was another sunny April day with a high of 56 F.  The were clear skies today with no clouds, that is a good indication that temperatures with drop significantly tonight to lows of 30's.  It was a little windy with 7 mph wind gusts.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

April 4th Weather

Today was a pleasant spring day. Temperatures reached into the 50's and the sun was shining with partly cloudy skies.  The clouds where mostly cumulous with a few cirrus clouds mixed in.  The wind speed was a little high with gusts of 9 mph. No perception today or in the up coming days as well.

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

April 3 Weather

The weather today was warm, with temperatures in the mid 60's. There was light breezes out of the east and northeast for most of the day. It was also partly cloudy for some of the day but when the sun peeked out it was unseasonably warm for this time of year. Overnight, I think that it will become increasingly cloudy and temperatures will drop. Tomorrow, I think that we will have a nice day with warm temperatures.

Monday, April 2, 2012

April 2 Weather

Today was really breezy with winds blowing from the east and southwest. It was warmer temperatures ranging throughout the 60's for most of the day. March 29 Weather

Today, we continued to experience cold weather. There was temperatures around mid 50's throughout most of the day. There was high winds out of the east and south, gusting to about 20 mph throughout most of the day. I predict that we will begin to experience small amounts of precipitation throughout the night but I think that temperatures will remain pretty steady with what we have been experiencing.

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

March 28 Weather

Today, we are experiencing low temperatures at 48 F, although it feels like it is barely above 40 F. The wind isn't helping the conditions any, as it is blowing at about 16 MPH out of the west. There are cumulus clouds in the sky, but there are times of sunlight. I think that the weather that we are currently experiencing will last for a while, leading up to the weekend.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

March 27 Weather

Today, there is an overcast of Nimbus Stratus clouds, with temperatures much lower than what the forecast was supposed to be. It is currently about 50 F, with light wind gusts from the south at about 5 MPH. It is probably going to rain with temperatures remaining steady for the rest of the afternoon. The occluded front going through Wisconsin means that the weather system is dying out and colder temperatures are coming in.

Monday, March 26, 2012

March 26 Weather

Today was cooler than the weather that we have been experiencing lately.  The temperatures were around mid 40's throughout the day, but because the wind was 8 MPH out of the southwest, it felt much colder. There was an overcast of stratus clouds all day. Tomorrow, it will begin to get warmer, with temperatures expected in the mid to upper 60's.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

March 22 Weather

Today, we saw periods of sporadic rainfall along with steady cloud cover. Temperatures remained high, staying in the 60's most of the day. There was light wind gusts at times. Temperatures will decrease overnight, with continued precipitation.

March 21 Weather

The weather today was a continuation of the recent trend. It was calm and cloudy. There was mixed, light precipitation that continued throughout the day. Temperatures continue to remain high for this time of year, staying steady around 60. We are going to have temperatures dropping a little throughout the night with the same chance for light precipitation. I think that tomorrow we are going to continue to see more of the same, high temperatures with a good chance of rain and storms.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

March 20 Weather

Today, the weather was mixed. Overnight showers led to a wet early morning. Throughout the day, we saw mixed cloud cover with light precipitation at times. Temperatures remained above average, sitting around the mid 60's. I predict that precipitation will continue to stay in the forecast with wet and rainy conditions as well as a chance at severe storms tomorrow.

Monday, March 19, 2012

The weather lately has been unprecedented for this time of year. Today is no exception. We are experiencing record high temperatures with today reaching almost 80 F. It is breezy with winds gusting over 20 MPH at times. There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms later throughout the day and into tomorrow.

March 15th Weather

Today was a warm sunny day again.  The temperature was in the 60's and is currently 52 F.  Around about 3pm, there was haze making a halo around the sun, but rain isn't anticipated until Saturday.  When the sun was setting though there was a red sky which indicates no rain, also there were cirrus clouds with a mackeral sky.  There is a little bit of wind, 1 mph coming from the east. The morning started out with some precipitation, as I predicted it would last night. The rain did not last through out the day though.  Sunny skies peeked through the cumulonimbus clouds that were in the sky. There is a cold front coming in from the west so I predict tomorrow will be a little cooler then today was.   The temperature is currently 25 F with winds 3mph from the NE.  We can expect some more precipitation coming.

March 11 Weather

This was one of those March weather days that we don't see very often in this area. Overnight temperatures only increased as the day progressed. There was spotted cloud cover with winds gusting at times. Winds were coming out of the east at about 5-10 miles per hour. These current conditions could lead us to see some precipitation. I think that tonight and tomorrow we will probably experience some rain, followed by some warmer temperatures later this week. Here is a look at the current weather in the United States.

March 8th Weather

Today started out will no clouds and sunny skies.  By mid afternoon there was an overcast of stratus clouds and some snow flurries.  Tonight there was a shift in wind.  Now the wind is coming from NW at 18-27 mph gusts.  It is chilly at about 16 F, with a  20% chance of snow.  This is all probably due to the cold front right over Eau Claire. Tomorrow I predict it will warm up just a little with clear skies.

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

March 6th Weather

Due to the warm front coming in the temperatures are at a high of 59 F, with winds 1 mph from the South. With the sunny skies and haze over the sun this early morning and cirrus clouds, tomorrow will be rainy and still warm like a Spring day.

March 5th Weather

Today was colder then earlier anticipated.  The temperature is 25 F and winds are 5 mph from the SE.  There was a short snow fall of flurries today, but no accumulation. Snow fall will continue into the night.  Tomorrow the weather is going to be significantly higher with an anticipated temperature of 52 F. Most likely due to the Low pressure coming from north of North Dakota.

March 2nd Weather

Like the days prior to today there is an overcast of stratus clouds.  No snow as of yet. The south half of the state is seeing some rain snow mix due to the low pressure system in Illinois and the low pressure system in northern Minnesota.  My prediction of snow today is not coming true for Eau Claire.  The temperature is currently 35.6 and the winds are 4 mph from the NW. The barometric pressure is rapidly dropping today.

curwx_600x405.jpg

March 1st Weather

Today there was a continuous overcast of stratus clouds again just like yesterday.  Currently it has begun to snow again. The snow is big flakes. The current temperature is 32.2 F and the wind is 0 mph.  I expect there to be snow accumulation into tomorrow.

February 29th Weather

The snow let up today.  The morning brought some freezing rain still but it was mostly just a drizzle. The temperature warmed up today to about 35 F. Lighter winds 3mph coming from the northwest.  No more snow accumulation anticipated, but there is a chance of snow fall later tonight.  There was an overcast all day of stratus clouds.

February 28th Weather

The winter storm that was expected came.  The snow started around 2pm in the afternoon.  It was a light flurry, and was not constant. Later in the evening the snowfall increased heavily.  With winds of 12 mph coming from the SW the snow was a mixture of rain and snow.  It was a freezing rain and sounded hard on the windows.  The snow is very moist and packs well.  The temperature is about 29 F, so it is not to chilly out.

curwx_600x405.jpg

The Colorado lows that caused this storm, has moved into Iowa now.  As the temperature risings from the warmer air mass moving in with the SW winds the snow will turn into more freezing rain.  My predictions for tomorrow is more snow fall but not as gusty of winds as today. Total snow accumulation will be about 3-5 inches.

Monday, February 27, 2012

February 27th

Winter storm is on its way! This will be the first major snow fall our area of Wisconsin has seen all winter.

Today's conditions were calm. The wind was a little bit chilly, but the sun shining all day kept it some what warmer.

Currently its 23F with 1mph winds from the South East.  The calm before the storm.

Assignment One Links

Into my links I added, The Weather Channel and Unisys Weather, and The National Weather Service.  I like the Weather Channel link because it gives news about current weather all around the nation, not just maps and forecasts.  That makes weather more interesting. I also like it because it shows pictures of what the weather looks like in places.  Its hard to see that from a map.  I added the Unisys Weather link because I like the surface maps now that I know how to read them.  The surface maps can give more detail in one map combined.  I also added the National Weather Service link because it gives warnings of severe weather and the maps are color coded and easy to read.  I will probably use the Weather Channel link the most just for checking the forecast for Eau Claire because you can add your city to get current local weather news and updates.

February 7th Weather

curwx_600x405.jpg

Today's weather was sunny and warm.  There was no overcast. Brisk early morning temperatures, but then the high was 25.  Currently it is 16 F.  I predict tomorrow's weather will be very similar to today's. But this week the temperatures will cool down to typical February weather.

Saturday, February 4, 2012

February 4th Weather

Today the weather was extremely pleasant for an early day in February.  There was a lot fog this morning around 8am. This is probably due to all the snow evaporation from the high temperatures.  The fog cleared and the rest of the day was sunny with nearly no clouds.

curwx_600x405.jpg

Wisconsin is all clear. Tonight will be a little cooler with a temperature of 20 F.  There is a 20% chance of snow.  Tomorrow's weather I predict will be similar to todays, with a high in the upper 30's and little to no cloud coverage.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012

February 1st Weather

Yesterday was so warm it did not feel like the last day of January in Wisconsin! Highs were around 43 F yesterday.  Today it felt much cooler with complete cloud coverage preventing the sun from coming out.  Highs were 38 F and lows were 29 F.  There are some fog advisories out for tonight.  No precipitation expected for the rest of the week, and temperatures shouldn't drop too low.  Maybe the sun will come out for Groundhog Day tomorrow!

Monday, January 30, 2012

January 30 Weather

Today's weather was sunny, and warmer with some clouds.  There was a little bit of wind.  Tomorrow I predict it will be warmer, since it is a warmer clear skied night.
